National Biking Cum Training Expedition-Goa 2024-25


The biking trail travels from the Arabian Sea coast to Netravali village in the magnificent Sahyadri Western Ghats, which are recognized as the top 10 biodiversity spots of the world.


Program

Breif Description Of The Program : The biking trail travels from the Arabian Sea coast to Netravali village in the magnificent Sahyadri Western Ghats, which are recognized as the top 10 biodiversity spots of the world. The journey moves across the forests and the ecologically devastated mining belt in Sanguem. The voyage winds its way from the Bondla wildlife sanctuary to the calm and peaceful banks along the River Mandovi. It also visits the UNESCO World Heritage site of Old Goa. Thus the trail encompasses the entire range of all what Goa has to offer historically and naturally. From the coastline to the midlands to the mountain ranges is a huge experience of a varied land, a rich heritage and an interesting diversity of people who are proud of their land, culture and tradition.
 
Day wise Schedule:
Day 1 : Report at Base Camp Sports Authority Ground, Campal, Panaji.
Day 2 : Biking from Base Camp to Ambeli Camp [40 KM]
Day 3 : Biking from Ambeli Camp to Vichundre Camp [41 Kms]
Day 4 : Biking from Vichundre Camp to Collem Camp [48 Kms]
Day 5 : Biking from Collem Camp to Bondla Camp [25 Kms]
Day 6 : Biking from Bondla to Base Camp [ 45 kms], Valedictory Function
Day 7 : Check out after Breakfast
Use of alcohol and narcotics of any description are strictly prohibited during the course of the programme.
Additional Notes : Final vaccination certificate is mandatory for every participant

Who can Participate: Only those members of the association who are experienced in riding geared bikes, with proper shifting of gears and can ride for minimum 10 km non stop, can join this expedition. They must also pass an eligibility test which will be taken on the day of reporting near base camp. The organisors reserve the right to reject / disqualify members who fail this test despite registration and payment of fees. However, disqualified members shall be allowed to join the trekking expedition on the same day. Such members shall not be refunded the difference in fees of biking and trekking.  Therefore, members should kindly ensure that they qualify for the above condition before joining the biking expedition.
 
How To Reach The Base Camp : The base camp is located at Sports Authority Ground, Near Miramar Beach, Panaji Goa. The nearest railway stations are Thivim (25Kms), Karmali (12 km) and Margao (33km.). State bus service is available. Direct bus service is also available from Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore & Mangalore. Direct trains are available from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and major cities of India.

Accommodation Facilities : Tented accommodation
Food & Water Supplies : Morning tea, breakfast, lunch / packed lunch, evening tea and Dinner shall be provided. Simple vegetarian, good quality nutritious food shall be served at the camp. Please bring your own water bottle, plates, mugs, spoons, tiffin box for pack lunch etc.
 
What participants should bring along : Rucksack (if you have one) Biking t-shirts and trousers, Biking gloves, knee caps(Optional), Sports shoes, 2 pairs of cotton socks, torch, water bottle, lunch box, mug, plate, spoon, soap, toilet paper, towel, medicines (which you normally use at home).
 
Safety & Security : Extensive and painstaking preparation has gone into the planning of Bike routes for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. The Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen eventualities. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If the participant desires to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the Expedition and checking out. YHAI group insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take insurance cover for your journey and other related matters.
 
Cancellation Rules :
1) Participants booked online will do online cancellation minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date
2) Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to goastateyhai@gmail.com minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.
Only cancellation done as per above method will be eligible for credit shell. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell.
 
Cancellation Policy :
1) In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2025. No refund will be applicable for any cancellation of seat.
2) If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2025.
3) If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.
4) Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again in any condition.
5) You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.
