National Himalayan Dodital-Darwa Pass Trekking cum Training Expedition (Uttarakhand) 2024


Dodital is a freshwater lake in Uttarakhand, India, situated at a height of 3,024 metres (9,921 ft). Dodital is considered as one of the most beautiful lakes of India and it is extremely popular with nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts.

Breif Description Of The Program : Dodital is a freshwater lake in Uttarakhand, India, situated at a height of 3,024 metres (9,921 ft). Dodital is considered as one of the most beautiful lakes of India and it is extremely popular with nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. Dodital is surrounded by dense Oak Woods, Pine, Deodar and Rhododendrons with crystal clear water that makes Dodital as an ultimate trekking destination for the trekkers. The lake is full of fish and is known for some of the rare species like the Himalayan Golden Trout. According to mythological history, Dodital is known as birthplace of Lord Ganesha and witnessed the beheading of the Ganesha by Lord Shiva.
 
Day wise Schedule:
Day 1 : Report at Dehradun Railway Station and drive to Uttarkashi Camp (163 kms).
Reach Dehradun Railway Station/Dehradun Hill Bus Station at 08.00 AM. Dedicated transport will be arranged for pickup from Dehradun Railway Station to Uttarkashi. Generally it takes 7-8 hrs depending upon the road conditions. The scenic beauty that you see along the route will make you feel refreshed and like walking through paradise.
Arrival at Uttarkashi by evening and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 2 : Travel to Agoda village by Jeep and trek to Bebra (2 km)
After breakfast, drive to Agoda by vehicle. After reaching Agoda village, start trek to reach Bebra.
From Agoda Village we can see the Dayara Bugyal trail and Bakaria Top from distance. mostly downhill after agoda village upto Bebra. Night stay at Bebra Village.
Day 3 : Trek from Bebra Camp to Manjhi (9 km).
After breakfast start trekking to reach Manjhi. From Bebra, the initial half an hour is bit tiring as trail is steep climb. Then trail to Manjhi is very scenic and you will get beautiful view of alpine trees and forests. Manjhi is a seasonal village, which is inhabited only during summer months where you will see makeshift shepherds’ huts. Night stay in tents near shepherd huts.
Day 4 : Trek from Manjhi to Dodital, Stay overnight at Dodital Campsite (5 Km).
After breakfast start trekking to reach Dodital. The trek from Manjhi to Dodital is easy and there is a well maintained route through Rhododendron, Pine and Oak trees. After an easy trek we will reach our destination, the scenic lake called Dodital which is famous for its beauty and the Himalayan Trout fish.
Night stay at Camp near Dodital Lake.
Day 5 : Trek from Dodital to Darwa Top (4150m) and back, Stay at Dodital Campsite (5+5 Km).
Early morning trek to be undertaken to reach Darwa top with packed breakfast.
During this journey, enjoy the nature with some challenges and excitement. View from the top is amazing and you would be able to see significant and majestic peaks like Gangotri group, Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, etc. Relax at the top for some time and start back towards Dodital. Overnight stay at Dodital.
Day 6 : Trek from Dodital to Agoda Village (16 km) and transfer to Uttarkashi by Jeep , Night stay at Uttarkashi Camp.
After breakfast trek down to Agoda – an easy 16 km, retreating the same path. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.
Day 7 : After breakfast, Programme ends.

After completing trekkers can visit the following nearest tourist and religious places by own:
1) Harshil , 2) Gartang Gali and 3)Gangotri: One of the main religious places among the four Char Dham pilgrimage
 
Who can Participate: This expedition is open to YHAI members and physically fit.
 
How To Reach The Base Camp :
By Air : Dehradun’s airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, which is located 27 km approx away from the railway station. All airlines have regular flights to Dehradun. Mostly flights arrival time is around afternoon.
By Bus : Dehradun is well connected to most cities such as Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh by Volvo, Deluxe, semi-deluxe and Uttarakhand State Transport buses. These buses arrive and depart from the Dehradun Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) near Clement Town. Buses depart from here every 15 minutes to one hour. Other bus terminals in Dehradun are the Mussoorie Bus Station, located at the Dehradun Railway Station which has regular bus services to Uttarkashi.
By Train : Dehradun is connected by regular train services to cities Delhi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ujjain, Chennai and Varanasi. The Dehradun Railway Station is located 1-2 kilometers away from the city centre and should take you only ten minutes, depending on traffic. Dehradun is connected to the rest of the country by trains such as the Shatabdi Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, Dehradun AC Express, Doon Express, Bandra Express and the Amritsar-Dehradun Express among others.
Road/Self Drive : A popular tourist destination, Dehradun has a strong road network, which makes for a pleasant driving experience. Dehradun is well connected by road to cities like Delhi by the NH 58 and 72 is approximately a 4 hour drive. Dehradun is also well connected to cities like Haridwar and Rishikesh

Accommodation Facilities : Accommodation in Home Stay/Tent on sharing basis will be provided.

What participants should bring along : Rucksack (40-60 Ltr.), Small Backpack/Day pack (10-20 Ltr), Trekking Shoes, Floaters/Flip Flops, Socks, Raincoat, Poncho, Torch, Lunchbox, Water bottle, Woolen Garments(Jackets/Sweater, Cap, Gloves, Socks), Sun Cap, Sunglasses, Sunscreen Cream, Moisturizer, Lip Balm, Goggles, personal Medical Kit, Soap, Towel, Camera, Power bank, Clothing, Personal Utilities.
 
Safety & Security : Trained/expert camp leaders will be available for guidance. Medicines will be available in the camp. First aid/ basic medical assistance shall be provided. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, The Youth Hostels Association of India, Delhi State Branch will not be responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen eventualities.
 
Special Casual leave :
The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
Certificates : Participants, who successfully complete the trek and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.
 
Additional Notes :
1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.
2. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.
3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.
4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the next camp.
5. Burning of woods during camp fire is strictly prohibited.
6. Medical Certificate is compulsory; you have to summit Medical Certificate at the time of reporting.

Cancellation Policy : In case you are unable to join this trek you will get 50% of the prog. Fee which is Rs. 4800/- as refund, provided your cancellation request is received on or before 20th April 2024 (positively). Any request received after the last date of cancellation will not be considered.
