Who Can Participate: Any YHAI member above the age of 15 years can participate on first cum first serve basis.
 
How To Reach The Base Camp:
 
The reporting place for the programme is at Karmasadhan Dormitory Convent Square, Sea View Ward, Alappuzha
Road : Alappuzha is District Head Quarters. Buses available from Ernakulam KSRTC Bus Station and Cochin Airport (Athani Jn 2 KM from Airport) to Alappuzha
Rail : The nearest railhead is Alappuzha (station code: ALLP) which is connected to with All major cities in India
Air : The nearest airport is Cochin International airport 2 hr 58 min (82.7 km) via NH 66

Day Wise Schedule:
 
Day 1 (27.11. 2025) Reporting at Karmasadhan Dormitory Convent Square, Sea View Ward, Alappuzha 5 PM Orientation and Acclimatization / Training. Camp
Day 2 Backwater Cruise (28.11.2025)
11.00 AM to next day 9.30 AM Alappey backwater cruise is a night on the houseboat. These luxurious houseboats are fully equipped with all the amenities you need, and you can spend the night on the water; glaring at the stars and listening to the sound of the water lapping against the boat. A night on the houseboat is typically quiet and peaceful, with the gentle sway of the boat and the sound of the water to lull you to sleep. The houseboat staff will cook and serve you a scrumptious Lunch , dinner and breakfast. .Camp at House Boat
Day 3 Nature Travel (See Kuttanad)(Boat Ride) (29.11.2025) 11.00 AM to 7.30 PM
Kuttanad is a region covering three districts in kerala namely alappuzha kottayam and pathanamthitta. This area is well known for its paddy fields. The other geographical pecularities of this area is that it has one of the lowest altitude in india and its one of the few places in the world where farming is done around 1 to 3 meters below sea level. farmers of this area are famous for biosaline farming.
Food and agriculture organisation (FAO) has declared the kuttanad farming system as a globally important agricultural heritage system (GIAHS).punnamada lake in kuttanad is part of Ramsar site vembanad kol wetland.Below sea level farming:
During this boat trip visitors can see the paddy fields where farming is done below sea level similar to farming done in netherlands.kuttanad cuisine: pearspot fish dishes , kuttanadan duck dishes, backwater fish dishes Camp at Karma Sadhan
Day 4 Kumarakam Visit (By Bus) (30.11.2025) 10 AM to 6 PM
Kumarakom is a sleepy little village on Vembanad Lake in Kerala. It offers wide variety of flora, exotic sightseeing, boating and fishing experience. The bird sanctuary spread across 14 acres is safe home for many migratory birds like Siberian stork, wild duck etc. Camp at Karmasadhan
Day 5 (01.12.2025)
10.00 AM Group disbursed after Break fast
 
Safety & Security: Our field volunteers and camp leaders have been visited the area and check the details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
 
Additional Notes:

Use of alcohol and narcotics of any description and smoking are strictly prohibited during the programme. Deviation from the set rout of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the programme and check out.

Cancellation Rules:
In case you are unable to join the programme after paying participation fee, you will get Rs 6250/-as refund provided your request is received at least 10 days in advance from the date of your reporting. No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice is short of 10 days.
