About Program : Dear students, Every year we organize a Special Nature study cum trekking expedition programme . So once again we are conducting the special National Himalaya Trekking Expedition (Nature Study) at Dalhousie. This programme includes many adventurous activities which can boost your future with courage, leadership, National Integration, team spirit and lot of fruitful achievements
Note : These programs are exclusively for YHAI members. Membership is also available at Base Camp/Online/State Branch/Units and YHAI Trekking expeditions are not subsidized by the Government or any donors.

Flora of Dalhousie mainly comprises of alpine ranges and line of Deodar trees. Trekkers can see the deodar trees standing majestically, on the other side colorful flowers bloom in the hilly terrains of the place. Blue Bull, Leopard, Mongoose, Fox, Barking Deer etc can be seen in this region.

Highest Altitude Gain: 9800 Feet

Reporting Point : Youth Hostel Dalhousie(Reporting Time After 12 PM)
Program Includes : Simple vegetarian food, Sharing accommodation, Equipments, Training, Forest entry fee, Guidance and group Insurance
 
Schedule Of Programme :
Day 1 : Acclimatization, Orientation and Training
Once the students will report at base camp will be taken for acclimatization walk around the base camp to gain some height for proper acclimatization.
Day 2 : River Crossing:
Students will have trek around 5 hours ascending and descending to Bada Nallah where they will enjoy River Crossing in guidance of our professional instructors and once all students enjoy the river crossing, will come back to base camp
Day 3 : Trel to Kalatop:
Students will be transported from base camp to Lakharmandi by bus where from they will start trekking to reach Kalatop which is situated at an altitude of 8000 feet from sea level, after photo session students will come back to base camp via jungle route trek which can take 05 hours approximately.
Day 4 : Height Gain:
Students will be transported by bus from base camp to Dainkund by bus which is located at an altitude of 9800 feet and will start Trek to Joth (9000ft) after photo session will trek back to Base camp which can take 04 hours
Day 5 : Rappelling:
On this day students will be taken to Panchpulla for Rappeling, Panchpulla is the nearest rock craft area to the base camp. After rappelling students will have to trek for couple of hours to reach the beautiful waterfall and after photo session back to base camp.
Day 6 : Recreation activity and Check out:
Group will have to check out after breakfast.

Who can Participate :
Nature Study program is open to age group of 10 -15 yrs. Only junior members are allowed to participate. Overage / underage students shall not be considered in any case.
One teacher/ escort accompanying a group of 10 students will be complemenatry in terms of participation fee on ‘first come first served’ basis.
 
How to Participate :
Online Booking : Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online by paying program fee along with online booking amount i.e. Rs.5000/-
We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments. After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry “Admit Card”, “Trekking Medical Certificate” & “Membership Card”(Print out of temporary membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.

Offline Booking : Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed “Trekking Registration Form” duly supported by a “Trekking Medical Certificate”, along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.5000/-in favor of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. All Offline Booking confirmation is subject to availability of seats. National Office will send the Admit Card along with confirmation letter to the participant at the address mentioned in “Trekking Registration Form”.
 
Food & Supplies : Simple vegetarian food.
Accommodation : pucca accomodation on sharing basis.
 
How To Reach : Nearest Railway Stations are Pathankot. Regular bus services from Pathankot, Delhi & other parts of Punjab are available round the clock. Pathankot to Dalhousie is 80 kms approx (4Hrs)
 
Notice to Participants :
1. Students will have to follow the schedule strictly. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.
2. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.
3. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.
4. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any Non bio – degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence

Certificates: Participants, who successfully complete the trekking and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.
Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.

Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship. Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents. In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women : YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.
 
Safety & Security : Rucksack (if you have), Cotton Shirt, Cotton Trousers, Woolen Jersey or Jacket, Woolen Muffler / monkey cap, Light raincoat, Hunter shoes, 2 pairs of woolen socks, Hand gloves, Torch with spare batteries, Water Bottle, Lunch Box, , Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra battery.
 
Cancellation Rules :
1) Participants booked online will do online cancellations a minimum of 10 days prior to your reporting date.
2) Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to trekking@yhaindia.org, a minimum of 10 days prior to your reporting date.
Only cancellations done as per the above method will be eligible for credit shell. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell.
Cancellation Policy :
1) In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2024. No refund will be applicable for any cancellation of seat.
2) If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2024.
3) If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.
4) Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again in any condition.
5) You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.
