Overview
 
PROGRAM FEE CHARGEABLE TO PARTICIPANT: Rs.6500/- (Rupees Six thousand five hundred only) per participant. However, non YHAI members need to pay Rs.6700/- (Rupees Six thousand seven hundred only). (Additional Rs.200/- being collected towards annual membership fee).

BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM: Explore Western Ghats State Level Trekking cum training expedition-2025 is organized by Youth Hostels Association of India, Mangaluru Unit, Karnataka. Western Ghats is one of the world’s 25 Biological hotspots, in terms of sheer natural beauty and rich biological diversity. Explore
 
Western Ghats State Level Trekking cum training expedition-2025 will commence on Thursday, 11th December, 2025 and concludes on Sunday, the 14th December 2025. The duration of the camp is 3 nights and 4 days.
 
Participate Information
 
ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:
 
Simple stay arrangements have been made available to the participants in a covered convention hall with separate arrangements for ladies.
 
FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES:
 
Simple vegetarian Food will be provided by our experienced cooks and preparation will be done at the Kitchen attached to the convention hall. Water supply will be 24 hours.
 
WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:
 
Cotton shirts, cotton pants, sun cap, sun glass, trekking shoes with good grip, trekking pole, cotton socks, torch with new batteries, 2 water bottles, lunch box, steel mug or tumbler, plate, spoon, pen knife, toilet kit, towel, personal medicines, rain coat/poncho or rain sheet, sweater or jacket, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, bed sheets, mosquito repellent, air pillow and original ID Cards, masks and sanitizer.
 
Participants will be returning to the base camp every day and hence they need not carry their full luggage during the trek. Please bring a Small Back Pack for carrying water bottle, Lunch Box, Fruits, Personal Medicines etc during the trek.
 
SAFETY & SECURITY:
 
Extensive, painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trek route for participant’s safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. However, the youth hostels association of India and its organizers/volunteers cannot be held responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen eventualities. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If the participant desires to join in any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk, only after finishing the trek and checking out.
 
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
 
The program and trekking route or trekking schedule are subject to change without prior notice, depending upon the weather conditions, natural calamities, unforeseen circumstances or any other decisions or restrictions imposed by the Government from time to time.

Facts
 
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
 
The Minimum age for joining the expedition is 15 years. There will be only one batch of 100 members. The registration will be on first come first serve basis and will be stopped once the number reaches 100. However, the organizers may split the batch to 2 groups of 50 each, if the situation warrants.
 
HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP:
 
Our Base Camp is situated at Kolli Sri Durga Parameshwari – Sri Durga Devi Temple, Mittabagilu Post KILLUR-574 214 (Belthangady Taluk) which is 20 Kms from Belthangady, 83 Kms from Mangaluru, 114 Kms from Udupi, 313 Kms from Bengaluru and 241 Kms from Mysuru.
 
HOW TO JOIN:
 
Members desiring to join this trekking cum training expedition, may apply in the prescribed trekking Registration form. You may take a print out of the trekking registration form, fill it up and after signing, send the scanned image to us. Trekking registration form and Trekking Medical form are available with your Unit or your State Branch. These forms also can be downloaded from YHAI website www.yhaindia.org/Download. If required we too can share the Trekking Registration form and Trekking Medical form in Whatsapp.
 
Copy of the Filled in Registration form may be shared in Whatsapp Number 9739444286. Original Registration form with Medical Certificate is to be produced on the day of reporting. The Registrations will be stopped once the number reaches 100. Medical Certificate (MC) can be handed over while reporting on 11th December, 2025 and the Medical Certificate date should be after 12th November, 2025. i.e. within 30 days before the date of reporting.

Cancellation Policy
 
CANCELLATION RULES:
 
In case, the participant is unable to join the trekking expedition, after paying the participation fee, a sum of Rs.4000/- will be refunded, provided, the request is received at least 7 days in advance from the date of reporting. No refunds will, however be admissible, if the notice period falls short of 7 days.
