Program Overview

Celebrating 51 years of Himalayan trekking, the SAR PASS Trek takes you through the stunning Parvati Valley in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Key stops include Kasol, Nagaru, Biskeri, Manikaran, and Kanwar Wildlife Sanctuary, home to rare species like the Western Tragopan and Himalayan Palm Civet.

Documents Required at Base Camp

  1. Medical Certificate (MBBS/MD, valid for 30 days)
  2. 2 Passport-size Photos
  3. 2 Copies of ID Proof

MANDATORY: Trekking Medical Certificate will be compulsory at the time of reporting only (with 30 days of validity ) duly signed by registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS / MD only) along with his registration no. and stamp.. Participants must be physically fit and bring all documents for base camp check-in.

How to Reach

Our base camp is located at Sumaropa near Kasol, which is well connected by road to Kullu via Bhuntar. Sumaropa lies approximately 8 km before Manikaran, which is famous for its natural hot water springs.By Road:Regular bus services operate from Kullu and Bhuntar to Sumaropa.Direct buses to Manikaran and Kasol are also available from Chandigarh and various parts of Punjab.Deluxe, semi-deluxe, and ordinary day/night buses run from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Punjab to Manikaran and Kasol.By Rail:The nearest railway stations are Chandigarh and Ambala.By Air:The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (Kullu–Manali Airport).

Eligibility & Requirements

  1. Age: 18–60 years (strictly enforced)
  2. Membership: YHAI membership required
  3. Medical Certificate: Mandatory for all
  4. Special Cases: Fit, experienced trekkers outside the age limit may be accepted offline with Indemnity Bond (subject to management approval)

How to Register

  7. Admit Card sent via email upon seat confirmation

Important Guidelines

  1. No smoking, alcohol, or narcotics
  2. Camp stay is compulsory throughout
  3. Maintain cleanliness – don’t litter
  4. Campfires using wood and non-biodegradable materials are banned

Day Wise Schedule

8-Days Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Report at Base Camp, Sumaropa near kasolDay 2: Acclimatization, orientation, training & kit inspectionDay 3: trek From Sumaropa to Grahan

Day 4: Trek to Ming Thach (11,200 ft)

Day 5: Trek to Nagaru (12,500 ft)

Day 6: Cross Sar Pass, reach Biskeri (11,000 ft)

Day 7: Trek to Barshaini, return to base camp, certificate & recreation

Day 8: Check-out after breakfast

Note: Schedule may change due to weather or admin decisions.

Facts

Food & Stay

  1. Meals: Simple, nutritious vegetarian food during the trek
  2. Accommodation: Shared tents with toilet-bathroom facilities at base camp

Safety & Liability

  1. Led by trained staff with safety measures in place
  2. YHAI is not responsible for accidents, illness, or unforeseen events

What to Bring

  1. Gear: Rucksack, walking stick, warm clothes, trekking shoes, rain sheet, sun cap, lunch box, plate, spoon, steel mug, water purifying tablets
  2. Toiletries: Soap, towel, toilet paper, cold cream/Vaseline
  3. Medicines: Personal meds + first aid (bandages, paracetamol, lozenges, etc.)
  4. Extras: Camera with spare batteries
  5. Luggage: Can be stored at base camp

Documents Required at Reporting

  1. YHAI Membership Card or payment receipt
  2. Admit Card (post-registration)
  3. Original Medical Certificate
  4. 2 Passport-size photos
  5. Entry will be denied without these.

For Govt. Employees

  1. Approved for special casual leave by Govt. of India (DoPT)
  2. Up to 30 days leave applicable

Certification

  1. Participants who complete the trek and follow guidelines will receive a certificate

Scholarships Available

  1. Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship: For girls from families with income < ₹1,00,000
  2. Siddharth Scholarship: 50% fee waiver for youth (under 30) from families with income < ₹2,50,000
  3. Valid income proof required

Reporting Dates 07-05-2026

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Method:

Participants booked online will do online cancellation minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.

Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to trekking@yhaindia.org minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.

Only cancellation done as per above method will be eligible for credit shell/refund. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell/refund.

Cancellation Policy:

The Participant, who cancels the programme by serving request minimum 10 days prior to his/her reporting date as per above terms and conditions of “Cancellation Method”, is eligible to get the credit shell or refund as follows:

(a) Credit Shell:-

In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till 31st December 2026.

If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2026.

If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.

Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again.

You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.

The credit shell can only be used in booking of adventure programs organised by YHAI. The credit shell will not be used in taking memberships and hostel bookings.

OR

(b) Refund:-

Participants can opt for a 50% refund instead of 100% credit shell if they wish to. The conditions of “Cancellation Method” will be the same as mentioned above. The participant has to inform either offline or online minimum 10 days prior to his reporting date. If the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date the refund request shall not be considered.

Note: If any program will be cancelled due to Natural Calamity / Government Restriction / Cancellation of Permission or any other reasons, YHAI will be accountable only for program fees and not other expenses which participants have made for joining the program. In these circumstances the decision for participation fees will be considered by the YHAI and will be bound to all.
